Emergency Update (POWER LOSS – 38 – 49 DON PHELAN CLOSE).

11th December 2020 – Update at 1:30pm

This is to inform you that that both the Council and the Nations; Power Networks that are currently working to restore the recent power outage to your block and building have informed the TMO office that they are aiming to work towards restoring the power back into the building sometime today Friday 11th November 2020.

Once this is done, please be informed that both the Council and the National Power Networks will need access into the property in order to test the power and certify that the connection is safe.

Please ensure that you cooperate with the team and grant access for the testing and certification process to be completed.

No testing and certification could possibly render any building and or content insurance that you currently have null, and void in the case of any fire so please make sure that you grant access for this to be completed.

10th December 2020 – Update at 3.30pm

Contractors are due to be on site today and tomorrow to start the works to dig the man hole and the trench.

Once that has been completed, UKPN will connect it to the main distribution board.

Contractors are working through the weekend to restore the power back to all properties affected.

Once power is restored, we will update this page (even during the weekend)

8th December 2020 – Update at 1.30pm

The latest information we have received from Southwark Council today (8th December 2020) is that UK Power networks(UKPN) have requested that Southwark Council build a separate electrical unit as UKPN do not want to bring a cable into the current intake cupboard and connect to the service head.

Works are now being planned by Southwark Council to build a separate external unit (most likely constructed by brick). At the moment, we are still yet to receive a date of when the works will be complete and when power will be re-instated back into the property.

We will endeavour to continue to keep you updated as and when we receive updates.

You can keep up to date with the latest information via this link: https://deynsford.org/latest-info/emergencyupdate/.

7th December 2020 – Update at 1.30pm

As you are aware that on Thursday, 4th December 2020 (approximately 8pm), there was a major power outage to this block which affected 12 properties (38-49 Don Phelan Close).

Whilst the works to reinstate the power back to the properties affected are being undertaken by Southwark Council, please note that the TMO will endeavour to provide update as and when we receive it from the council. Please note that we have created an area on our website where we will continue to provide daily/latest updates that we receive from the council:

We have been advised by Southwark Council that the main distribution board (block fuse board) is intact. However the delay to the works is due to the additional works in regards to connecting the electrical supply to the distribution board (block fuse board).

UK Power Networks (UKPN)  have stated that the existing cable is currently too old and laid too shallow in the ground to reinstate the supply. They have insisted Southwark Council creates a new access hole for the re-running of new electrical supply cables as well a trench to run the new supply cables.

Southwark Council (electrical managers) are attending site on 7th December to assess the area for a suitable location for the man hole and the trench. As soon any this has been carried out then the works will be planned. This is on an urgency basis due to the impact of the power loss.

Currently, both Southwark Council and the UKPN cannot advise when the electricity will be back on but are doing their best to re-instate the supply as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologise the inconvenience this has caused you but please rest assured that all parties are doing everything they can to re-instate the power back to the block as soon as possible.

4th December 2020 – update at 1:30pm

As you are aware that on Thursday, 4th December 2020 (approximately 8pm), there was a major power outage to this block which affected 12 properties (38-49 Don Phelan Close).

The power outage appears to have been caused by water ingress (communal heating and hot water pipe) onto the main distribution consumer unit.

Smith and Byford this morning carried out the repairs to the communal pipe. Southwark council electrical contractors are currently on site and carrying out repairs to re-instate the main distribution consumer unit so power can be re-instated to all properties affected asap.

Unfortunately, at this stage, we are not able to give any indication as to how long the works will take. I understand that some of the properties affected have made alternative arrangements for accommodation. However, if don’t have alternative accommodation then please contact Southwark Council below:

*Please state the reason as to why you require the temporary accommodation clearly i.e. no power to your home and also any vulnerability issues

We sincerely apologise the inconvenience this has caused and please rest assured that all parties are doing everything they can to re-instate the power as soon as possible.

To get further progress on the works during out of office hours, please contact Southwark Council directly on 020 7525 5000.
